Bali 5.4, a unique catamaran in terms of space and comfort

The Bali Catamarans continue to attract the public with their unique solutions in terms of space and comfort. Their latest model, Bali 5.4, impresses not only by its size, but also by the space it offers.

The total length is 16.80 m with a width of 8.84 m. Try to multiply these numbers and you will be close to the surface of a useful space. We are already used to the saloon extending aft, which makes it the integral space with the cockpit. There is no trampoline at the front, but an integral bridge which is the hallmark of Bali.

On Bali 5.4, there is something new! The front cockpit is integrated into the saloon by a tilting door, which makes the whole yacht a huge comfortable space, without partitions or other obstacles.

But that's not all! The flybridge does not only belong to the skipper. Outside the helm station, there is a large sunbathing area with U-shaped sofas around two tables. The rest of the flybridge area is covered with solar panels, which makes this yacht more energy efficient. This spatial layout is the result of a collaboration between the designer Olivier Poncin, the naval architect Xavier Faӱ and Lasta Design.

The dining room, which can accommodate up to 12 people, dominates the port side of the living room, while the comfortable sofa is available on the port side. Like the smaller models, Bali 5.4 is also equipped with a huge double-door refrigerator with freezer, ice maker and cold water tap. The galley separates the saloon from the foredeck, while direct access to the open-air lounge is via the full height overhead door.

Interior of BALI 5.4

The space under the bridge can be divided into four, five or six double bedrooms. In addition to the accommodation cabins, there are two additional crew cabins, one at each bow. These are equipped with a head and a sink, making life at sea easier for the crew and passengers.

Aft cabins are accessed from the deck on each side. The central and forward cabins are accessible by stairs from the saloon and a small hall separating the forward cabins from the central cabins for comfort and total discretion.

Equipment of the BALI 5.4

As comfort is one of Bali 5.4's highest priorities, air conditioning, heating, dishwasher and (optionally) washing machine are powered by a generator, while other power systems rely on gel batteries and solar panels that are quite reliable and powerful. Although the Bali 5.4 is designed to be easily handled solo or at short range, many owners decide to install a bow thruster to facilitate manoeuvring in the orifice.

The capacity of the freshwater reservoir is quite impressive - 1200 L. Looking back, this is not too much when considering Bali's hosting capacity 5.4. However, many owners decide to equip their Bali 5.4 with a watermaker, without worrying too much about the water supply.

This yacht is designed to be powered by two 60 or 80 HP engines, while the diesel tank can hold up to 1200 L of diesel. Again, this is not too much because the generator, if installed, is in daily use in yachts such as Bali 5.4. The sail area is divided between a mainsail of 99 m2 and a headsail of 58 m2, very often designed as a self-steering jib.
